Pastorial Note

At Shouthwest Community, we want to help everyone who calls our church home, to find purpose to live for; power to live on; principles to live by; and people to share life with. For that reason we have started the New Directions Ministry.

Through a mixture of classes, small groups, and seminars, we want to partner with you in your journey to become a fully committed follower of Jesus. As you look through this website, I pray that you will begin to think about which pathway will best help you in this goal and get started as soon as possible. My prayers will be with you in this process!

CLASSES: Here at Southwest, we still believe in the imporatance of Sunday School. we are trying a little different approach, however. We have adult classes and a teen class that presently meet on Sunday morning (see our Ministries page). On Wednesday evenings, we have Bible quizzing practice, youth group, and Sunday school for kieds in the 1st grade though 5th grade. We will add nursery through Kindergarten as demand and workers dedicate in the future. If you are an adult, or have kids, who prefer a classroom atmosphere for your discipleship and growth, please feel free to check out one of these classes.

GROUPS: For those of you who prefer a little bit more of a casual setting and the opportunity for developing new freindships, we also offer small group experiences. We presently have three small groups that meet during the week and will continue to add more of those in the future. These groups are a great way to study thte Bible in a non-threatening atmosphere and build firendships for life at the same time. Feel free to check out all of them in your attempt to find the right one. Hop to see you at one soon!

TEAMS: Some people connect best with God as they serve Him. We have a worship team, teen ministry team, kids ministry team, and many other team ministry opportunities for those who are interested in serving the Lord here at Southwest. the best way to fin dout more about these teams is to attend our next New Directions Weekend. We have those about once a quater and place those dates and times in the worship folder and our website.

NEW DIRECTIONS WEEKEND: New Directions Weekend is a weekend of classes, plus dinner on Friday night, designed to help you learn more about what it means to be a fully committed follwer of Jesus and member of Southwest Community Church. In the classes you will learn about the values, vision, and mission of Southwest Community Church; how to deepen your relationship with Christ; and how to get involved in ministry here at the church. Be watching your worship folder for upcoming dates.

GOD BLESS!
Pastor Steve

About Southwest

Hello! We're glad you found our web site, and we hope you find what you're looking for.

Our church is family oriented and casual, here in Orient, just 9 miles southwest of Grove City, Ohio. Our desire is to create a place where you can bring your family and friends to worship God, or just to get a taste of what this "God thing" is all about.

We have a dedicated and loving child care staff who provide fun learning activities for the kids. For adults, we have active worship services with live contemporary Christian music, and a young pastor with a fresh delivery of God's word.

Please visit with us and tell us a bit about yourselves. We'd love to get to know you and discover how we can serve you better. Let us share God's love with you in a fresh and exciting way.

While you're visiting with our smiling members, ask them why they're smiling. They'll be glad to share their "secret". We think you'll like the answer.

What To Expect

The question of "dress code" comes up frequently. "What should I wear?"

Well, not to worry! We have always been pretty informal here at the Southwest Community Church of the Nazarene, so come as you are.

Some people wear jeans and some have even been known to wear a suit and tie. Just dress in a manner most comfortable for you.

Newcomers sometimes wonder, "How will I know what to do when I get there?"

Again, not to worry! As our guest, you will be greeted at the door, and given a weekly bulletin. After our greeters visit with you, you will be guided to the sanctuary.

A clean nursery is available for the little ones, staffed by experienced, loving members of our church. The sermon and music is piped into the nursery, so if you would feel better caring for your own infant, you are welcome to do so.

We have a Sunday School program for kids, and we have activities for all age groups throughout the week. Check the bulletin for last minute changes, and news on upcoming special events.

Grab a nice comfortable seat anywhere you would like in the sanctuary and enjoy quality music with a blended feel between traditional and contemporary styles. We project the words on the screen, so don't worry about having to memorize anything.

Our service starts with music to get us in the mood to worship, followed by a "getting to know you" period, where our members walk around the sanctuary and greet newcomers, returning visitors, and long time friends.

After the greeting period, you will be blessed by more music, followed by a message from God's Word that will make a difference in everyday life.

We take an offering each Sunday. As our guest, you are not expected to participate, but you are welcome to do so if you wish.

We would love to have you come visit us. We think you will enjoy the experience, and want to become part of our "family". Let us know if we can do anything to make you more comfortable, or if there are any personal issues we can pray about with you.

Statement Of Faith

God so loved the world He gave His One and Only Son that whoever believes on Him should not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16);

Jesus came to give us real and eternal life; life like we never dreamed possible (John 10:10 MSG);

Jesus can empower us to love God with all our heart soul, mind and strength and;

We are to love our neighbor as we love ourselves (Matthew 22:36-40);

Jesus may return at any time so we need to not only fulfill the Great Commandment but also the Great Commission: "Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit; teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. Behold I am with you always; even to the end of the world." (Matthew 28:19-20).

A more detailed Statement of Faith available for those who are interested. Please contact us, and we will mail a copy to you. It is also reviewed during our membership class.
